Vice Minister Niu Dun meets Chilean Ambassador

DATE:2014-08-27           SOURCE:MOA

Vice Minister Niu Dun met with Mr.Jorge Heine, the new Ambassador of Chile to China, in Beijing on August 25, 2014. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening China-Chile agricultural cooperation.

Niu noted that China and Chile has maintained a good momentum and gained satisfactory achievements in agricultural cooperation. The China-Chile demonstration farm has begun to show encouraging developments and bilateral agricultural trade has registered sustained growth.

In order to enhance future cooperation, Niu put forward a three-point proposal as follows: first, to continue the implementation of the China-Chile five-year plan on agricultural cooperation and the Beijing Statement of China-Latin America Ministerial Forum on Agriculture for the overall development of agricultural partnerships between China and Chile and other Latin American countries; second, to facilitate the building of the China-Chile demonstration farm for more tangible outcomes of bilateral collaboration; and third, to step up cooperation in agricultural trade and investment for further integration of agro-industries.

Mr.Jorge Heine spoke highly of the progress in China-Chile agricultural cooperation, and fully agreed with Niu on the above proposal. He emphasized that agricultural cooperation is the basis of friendly relationship between the two countries. Since Mr. Carlos Furche, Chile''s Minister of Agriculture is scheduled to visit China this September, the Chilean side would like to take the opportunity to elevate collaboration with China to a new height.
